Much of Blaby district's housing is 20th-century suburb on the edge of Leicester: Glenfield grew between the 1920s and the 1950s with the Faire Estate, Leicester Forest East was developed mainly between 1920 and 1985, and Narborough has an old village core and the newer Pastures estate. Thorpe Astley added over 2,000 homes over 15 years from 1994, and New Lubbesthorpe, approved in 2014 west of the M1, is planned to grow to 4,250 homes. Old Blaby is a conservation area.
